IN the Smallbore Rifle Exeter and District Summer League Okehampton Smallbore Club members have performed well over the summer months, shooting 11 rounds at their indoor range. This is a postal competition and in the prone rifle section there are 14 divisions, drawing competitors from as far away as Wimborne and Weymouth to Tavistock and Tiverton. In division one, Okehampton's top shooter Paul Batten was third with the distinction of achieving the highest 'gun score' of his division and competition; this combined total of scores of the 11 rounds gave him an impressive 98.5 average out of 100 overall. In division two, John Chiverton was fifth and new member Richard Miles was eighth. Stuart Bennie shot well above his average to be fourth in division four, also gaining the highest 'gun score' of his division. And Martin Elliott was second in division five having shot well above his average too. In the sport rifle section, there are 24 divisions and Grahem Spier was fifth in division three. This week Okehampton Smallbore Club holds its annual meeting and then the club is open for the forthcoming winter season of competitive indoor shooting, teaching, improvement and enjoyment in all the disciplines. New members welcome.
