Okehampton 2
East Devon 1
OKEHAMPTON men's hockey firsts bounced back in style to defeat a tough East Devon side.
The first half saw chances come and go with captain Mark Parsons missing a one on one with the goalie, putting just wide and striking the foot of the post from a short corner.
Leon Oxenham and Sam Whalley both forced good saves from the away side keeper as well, while the Oke keeper also made some great saves to keep the hosts level at half time.
The home side dominated proceedings in the second half and Josh Speak picked out Parsons and he went round the keeper and hit a scuffed shot into the goal.
Jack Watson then made inroads down the right as the hosts looked to kill the tie off and an impressive second half display from Joff Stephens was capped off when he fed Parsons who swept home the second. Okehampton always looked comfortable but lost Rob Hall, Sam Whalley and Mark Parsons to injuries and had two yellow cards before the visitors scored a late consolation.
