OKEHAMPTON Ladies A tennis team travelled to Newton Abbot for their fixture this week.

Jackie Jarvis and Beth Dennis paired up as number one couple and took on the opposing second couple. The Okehampton pair soon found their form and cruised to an early victory 6-0, 6-1. Full of confidence they played their second match and although some games did go to deuce Jackie and Beth were able to up their game to win the important points and won comfortably 6-1, 6-2 .

Penny Holman and Vicki Bryceson played as the Okehampton number two couple. They took a while to get into the game and lost the first set 2-6.  They fought valiantly in the second and although they led 5-3 at one stage were unable to secure another game and although fighting all the way eventually lost 5-7.

In their second rubber they dominated from the beginning and won 6-2, 6-1, earning two valuable points.

Okehampton were well satisfied with their 6-2 win overall as they were missing two key players from their normal team.
