THE?Okehampton Hockey Club U14s girls’ team took part in the latest Devon Hockey Festival on Sunday at Exeter School.

The ten player squad  consisted of Lucy Wiseman, Izzy Rowlands, Hannah Woodhams, Abby Luxton, Fleur Mitchell, Annie Strawbridge, Emilia Bazeley, Eleanor Marvin, Grace James and Lucinda Aveyard.

Their first match saw them take on  Exe 2, Lucy Wiseman in goal made a string of outstanding saves to keep the score line 0-0.

With moments  left in their second game against ISCA 2, Grace James latched onto a loose ball in the scoring circle to level up the score 1-1,  a confidence boasting draw.

With bags of enthusiasm the girls went into their third game against Plymouth Marjon hunting goals. Eleanor Marvin’s  persistence paid off and she scored two goals in the game, while a well practised short corner routine saw Emilia Bazeley score the third and final goal.

The final game came against the day’s toughest opponents Exe 1. With added confidence and a superb defensive display from Hannah and Izzy helped the team to a 0-0 draw.

This great team performance led to an unbeaten day at the festival.
