OKEHAMPTON and Downes Crediton Golf Clubs played host to the Mid Devon foursomes, a 36 hole competition played on both courses in beautiful idyllic sunshine.
Winners of the scratch 36 hole category and the scratch cup were Jonny Rattenbury and Barry Down from Okehampton Golf Club with 62 points.
Winners of the handicap 36 hole category and the handicap cup were Allen and Penny Deakin from Okehampton GC with 74pts. Winners of the mixed 36 hole category and the mixed silverware were Blackie Widdows and Michelle Abel from Okehampton GC with 68pts; in second place were David and Sue Williams also from Okehampton Golf Club with 66pts.
Winners of the single sex 36 hole category were Paul Rattenbury and Matt Soby from Okehampton GC with 68pts while the winners of the Crediton scratch 18 hole category with 28pts were A McAney and J Foulger.
Winners of the Crediton Handicap 18 hole category with 35 pts were Tom Long and Steve Ley from Downes Crediton.
Winners of the Okehampton scratch 18 hole category were Kevin Cornwall and Malcolm Hill from Okehampton GC with 31 pts while the winners of the Okehampton handicap 18 hole category were Lewis Parry and Will Searle from Okehampton GC with 36 pts.
n ON Saturday at Okehampton Golf Club in idyllic conditions a medal competition for the Burd Medal (lowest nett) and the McCleod Cup (lowest gross) was contested.
Winner of division one and the Burd Medal with a superb gross 75 nett 62 was Nick Godfrey. Second was closely contended and after count-back it was awarded to Dave Bickle with nett 64, and third place went to Colin Cornwall.
Division two was won by Alan Lawson with a gross score of 80 nett 63. Kerry Skinner was second with net 64 and Peter Okopski was third with a nett score of 65.
Will Kinkead won division three with a gross score of 90 nett 64. Dave Lawson was second with nett 64 and in third with nett 66 was Gerry Carpanini.
The winner of the McCleod Cup for the lowest gross score of the day was won by Johnny Rattenbury with a gross 70 nett 67.
The Oke GC ladies section played in the Killard-Leavy foursomes competition. The winners who go on to represent the club in the finals at Staddon Heights in September were Mary Keir and Janice Thwaites with 30 points. Second with 28pts were Penny Deakin and Cherry James.
