THE Okehampton Ladies ‘A’ Tennis Team played Exeter Golf and Country Club ‘D’ at home.

Lying second in Division Five of the Exeter and District League they wanted to win as many points as possible.

Jackie Jarvis and Angela Herrod-Taylor started badly and lost the first game, but then cut out the errors and won the first set 6-1 and the second 6-2.

Despite some rain the decision was made to carry on.

Jackie and Angela romped through their second rubber winning fairly easily 6-0, 6-1.

Penny Holman and Beth Dennis started slowly and although they had some tremendous rallies lost the first match 5-7, 3-6.

In their second their determination was rewarded with a two set win 6-2, 7-5.

The Okehampton players were delighted to finish the evening with a 6-2 win which enables them to share the top of the table with their nearest rivals Dawlish on 75 points.

Okehampton have one more game to play today (Thursday, September 7) against Lympstone.

Promotion is definite and one point would secure their position as winners of Division 5.
