SUE Walker from Okehampton Running Club has qualified for the European and World Duathlon Championships to be held at Ottawa, Canada in August.

This was the first qualifier for the championships and took place at Althorp Park in Northamptonshire on a very cold day.

Sue did the sprint distance which consisted of a mixed terrain 5K run, followed by a 20K cycle ride, then another 5K run.

She completed all this in a time of 1hr 21.26mins broken down as 19.19 for the first run, 00.36 for the first transition, 41.06 for the cycle ride, 00.49 second transition and 19.43 for the final run. She finished first in her FV40-44 age group.

This is a fantastic achievement for one of ORC's members. Sue would love to be able to compete at Ottawa but will be unable to do so without some sponsorship.
