Plymouth University ladies 3

Okehampton ladies 2

OKEHAMPTON first team ladies came out strong, with good communication and team work from midfield players Kim Davey, Hannah Whitely and Lottie Rademaker creating several goal opportunities for the team.

After working tirelessly the visitors were unlucky to concede a goal despite best efforts from defenders Jane Jones, Carol Taylor, Nicki Stoneman and Ailsa Gibb, with Plymouth University bombarding them with shot after shot.

Okehampton tried their best to score an equaliser, with yet more shots on goal from forwards Jo Moppet and Molly Petherbridge, but were caught on the rebound by the fast and furious university team, who slipped a second past goalkeeper Shannon Osman.

Okehampton were desperate for a goal and constantly pressured the home defence, until some superb stickwork from Jo Moppet took the ball past the goalie and into the back of the net, making the score 2-1 at the half time break.

In the second half, after many opportunities for both hard working teams, a quick ball from Plymouth University's midfield into the Oke D saw a third goal for the home team.

The teams were seemingly equal in ability and the visitors continued to play well. An interception from Oke winger Louise Weller, who carried the ball up the pitch, saw the ball once again under Moppet's control, who smashed it into the goal, bringing the score up to 3-2.

Okehampton continued to press and made many more attempts on goal, with the whole team working well together and keeping the University's attacks at bay. A yellow card for Jo Moppet took Oke down to ten players, but they kept their cool and continually fought until the end whistle.

Okehampton played extremely well and were unlucky with the result.
