Duchy A 1

OKEHAMPTON faced Duchy at home in a rematch of a game which was cut short three weeks ago due to bad weather.

The home side started with great eagerness which resulted in a great link up when Jacob Lloyd neatly set up Stuart Jarvis to take a 1-0 lead early in the first half. With heads up, Okehampton kept applying the pressure, causing the Duchy side to move the ball around trying to find space. With a spot of luck and a gentle touch from the away side in the D, they managed to creep the ball past the Okehampton keeper.

The second half started with heads still up by both teams saw the ball moving to all areas of the pitch. With link up play from the away side, it paid off for them as they managed to secure a number of short corners throughout the game, but were unlucky not to convert these into goals.

Turning the tables by using a solid hit out from the Oke defence, the home side played the ball creating a short corner down the opposite end. Using this to their advantage, Neil Rowlands struck the ball, slotting it home into the bottom corner for 2-1.

Most of the second half consisted of more quick passing from both teams making the ball do the work. With legs beginning to tire, both teams pushed on to keep actively working the ball. Stuart used this to his advantage, running the ball down the right side of the pitch. His great vision found Toby arriving into the D calmly sweeping it past the keeper making it 3-1.

A great game and well played by both teams, the final score ended with a 3-1 win to the home side.

This week’s man of the match went to Toby Lloyd.
