ON Sunday two members of Okehampton Running Club took part in their first multi terrain race at the Bicton Lite in East Devon.
Claire Sprague and Marilyn Ley completed an excellent run in good weather conditions.
The race started and finished at Bicton College and went out to a local common where some of the tracks were rough and slippery. Claire and Marilyn worked hard on the course, particularly on the uphill sections and did themselves proud. They finished the nearly five mile course in well under an hour. The official times were: Claire Sprague in 57 minutes 57 seconds, Marilyn Ley 58,17 and Mags Jarvis 58.18.
On the previous day Karen and Lucy Skye took to the Fells and competed in the Kirkby Moor Race, near the Lake District.
This is a fast 11k race over rolling moorland - a mixture of heather, sheep tracks and sometimes the access tracks for the wind turbines. It is not that high or steep, but some parts are still quite hard going and navigation on the moor a challenge.
Karen and Lucy completed the course in good style with the following finishing times Karen Skye 1hr 10mins 32secs and Lucy Skye 1.20.17.
