Okehampton 1

Sidmouth and Ottery 3

ON a wet Saturday afternoon, Okehampton kicked off the return to the league by hosting a strong Sidmouth and Ottery side.

From the push back Okehampton were under pressure, and within minutes they conceded a goal from a well worked short corner. However, Okehampton took this as a wakeup call, and then seemed to add fluidity to their game.

The midfield began to link up with the forwards, and chances started to form. Forwards Parsons and Luxton found themselves in more and more space as the half went on. As this pressure built up, Okehampton scored a scrappy goal after skipper Parsons put the ball into the middle and after a deflection from a defender, it ended up in the goal. Okehampton were level. The half carried on as Okehampton wanted, as the defence of Liversidge, Aylen and Cooper kept the back stable for their forwards to further apply the pressure.

As the second half started, Okehampton were looking to take the lead; however, the relentless pressure would see no reward. Both Whalley, and Oke man of the match Miller rounded the keeper but could not find the back of the net.

The Oke midfield started to see a change in balance, and even with the hard work of Hall, Day, Bourne, Speak, Oxenham, Stephens, Whalley and Miller, Okehampton could not stop the visitors getting on top.

The defence were under a lot of pressure and good tackles from the defence could not keep out a second from the visitors.

Okehampton went on the offensive and from this a third goal was conceded and the game was put to bed despite the home side's valiant efforts.

n This week Okehampton men first team are away to Duchy.
