Okehampton opened the game on the back foot, surprised by the pace and style of the University side.

Wave after wave of attack came at the home side and each was soundly thwarted by some stalwart defending from Hall, Gers, Cooper and Howard. Oke went on the offensive pressing the Exeter defence; this paid dividends when Miller, intercepting a wayward pass, rifled a ferocious backhand past the keeper to give Oke the lead.

The visitors used wide players to penetrate the defence but Liversidge’s well organised side thwarted the opposition with tackling and industrious work from AP and Morgan in the middle.

Oke went into attack after Luxton tackled the centre back then took it past the goalkeeper before missing the open goal with his shot. In the next play though, Luxton had another shot, which was saved but it fell into the path of Chapman who coolly chipped the ball over the keeper.

The second half began at the same pace, with both sides pushing men forward, Okehampton repelling and then scoring goals. This time through Luxton, who caught a defender unawares and swept home.

The visitors pulled a goal back from a short corner routine. The final goal came through strong work in the midfield by Miller, working through a one-two with Speak before shipping the ball to Luxton who dispatched into the corner.

Oke finish for Christmas in a respectable second place in the table.
