OKEHAMPTON hockey ladies took a little time to warm up and at first Sidmouth and Ottery had the majority of the play.

The home team developed momentum as the game progressed and began to show themselves the stronger team.

Okehampton's defence was strong and captain Rochelle Hillier and Sandra Douglas both demonstrating the control, timing and power to prevent any real danger.

Viv Weatherington used her central position to great effect, with intelligent play to give the support the up and coming players of the attack line. Similarly Alex Collins displayed drive and panache working with Viv in midfield.

Oke created several chances at goal with creative passing and good positioning but were not quite able to get the necessary finish. Lisalotte Rademaker, who had another excellent game, pushed the ball left to Annabelle Rademaker who sliced it into the goal.

Okehampton won a short corner and scored their second goal with a ball that bounced past the goalie after being well taken by Lisalotte Rademaker.

With ten minutes to go the opposition, who were strong in midfield, finally pierced the home defence to to score. Okehampton redoubled their efforts to see out the match.

This was a team game and all players stepped up to the mark for Oke. Grace Thorpe made some beautiful runs on the right wing and Anna Speak played well at right half. On the left Emma Wiseman showed both speed and persistence while Annabelle, determined and skilled, was player of the match.
