Okehampton ladies seconds 3
Dart ladies three 2
IN?this hockey match despite Okehampton ladies' passion, the opening 15 minutes was a muddled affair; poor marking and a lack of team structure allowed Dart to open the score at 1-0.
With fighting spirit, Oke responded and within minutes, they found their winning edge; centre defender Rochelle Wonnacott passed the ball wide to Emma Wiseman leadling to Alex Collins and Rachel Adams taking several shots on goal. Then the break arrived; Jane Jones made a strategic reverse stick hit from a rebound, finding the back of the Dart net, levelling the score just before half time.
Oke returned to the pitch with fervour to win. A change in defence formation by captain Rochelle Wonnacott proved worthwhile.
Quick passing of the ball from Viv Weatherington to the sides provided Anna Speak, Holly Davidson and player of the match Sophia Marshall opportunities to feed the ball into the circle, putting pressure on the opposition's defence. Several short corners were awarded from which Sandy Douglas scored the team's second goal.
Okehampton kept the pressure up. Several fast runs by Hope Jewell brought the ball into the circle. A pass to the top of the D quickly picked up by Viv Weatherington allowed her a shot towards the left post that then clipped the stick of Alex Collins and into the goal. Okehampton were winning 3-1.
But Dart responded with a quick run down the right side, drawing the home defence wide leaving the goalie Alice Wiseman vulnerable and, despite her valiant attempts, Dart scored again.
