THE Rotary Club of Okehampton held its second Pairs Darts Challenge on August 21. Thirty people in 15 pairs took part in the challenge with skills ranging from those who played darts regularly in local leagues to those who could barely hit the board! All agreed that it was a very enjoyable evening.
All pairs were entered into the Challenge for the Rotary Shields and those who lost in the first round then went on to the Shield competition.
A well supported raffle contributed to the evening’s entertainment and helped in raising about £150 towards Rotary Club funds, which are used to support local charities and good causes.
Skill and class showed through in the end and after more than two hours of games and the worthy winners and runners-up were presented with their trophies by Rotary Club vice-president David Potter.
RESULTS: Pairs Darts Challenge, winners Ben Davis and Simon Court; runners-up Andy Middleton and Dennis Arthur. Pairs Darts Plate, Mandy Jones and Mark Drew; runners-up Jamie Stevens and Dave Brock.
Dave Potter, on behalf of the Rotarians, thanked event organisers Rotarians Hubert McPhillips and Paul Ankcorn and also North Tawton Rugby Club for hosting the event but most of all to the teams, who took part and made this an enjoyable and successful evening of darts.
