THE girls' U11s table tennis team from Okehampton Primary have been proving their worth as they took part in the Regional Schools Table Tennis Championships in Plymouth on January 19.

The contest saw the team compete against other county champions from the region.

Through their determination, skill and hard work, the team achieved a finish on the podium, coming third in the South West.

The team was made up of current Devon school individual champion Emily Haskell, Megan Brogan, Mari Baldwin and Niamh Adams.

The girls had already succeeded in winning the gold medal at the Devon Schools Table Tennis Championships in November — the sixth year in a row the school has won.

Okehampton Primary has an after school club twice a week for children aged seven to 11, and provides an inclusive atmosphere for children of all abilities.

The club is run by a professional head coach Mike Hugh from Okehampton Table Tennis Club.

Children from the school will be attending the individual schools championships in February.
