PLAYING against a big and robust outfit from Cullompton this game was never going to be easy for Okehampton, with the conditions and the wet pitch against their liking for slick handling and fast open play.
Cullompton opened the scoring in the first few minutes with a driving maul down the slope that drove Oke over the line; with the conversion the visitors went 7-0 up after three minutes played.
Okehampton then began to wake up and start playing their game, with good decisions being made; they became camped in their opponents 22 metre zone and scoring chances started to come. After a five metre line out they drove their opponents over the line with captain Ryan Gross getting the touch down; the conversion was missed.
Okehampton then gave away far too many penalties,and found them selves being driven over their own line again by the Cullompton pack and at half time is was Okehampton 5 Cullompton 12.
In the second half Oke displayed their best rugby of the game with the ball being moved from one side of the pitch to the other resulting in a great try for winger Luke Shinn.
With ten minutes to go they were awarded a penalty within kicking distance and up stepped Brandon Horn to put the ball between the uprights, Okehampton held out to take the win, which now puts them in the top four of the league.
Good games were had by player of the match Noah Nash, Ryan Gross, and Charlie White.
