Okehampton ladies’ seconds 4
Honiton Hornets 6
OKEHAMPTON seconds were caught off guard from the very start of the game and allowed Honiton to score three quick goals in the first few minutes.
Oke ladies continued to struggle and could not find any form of flow to the game, which, in turn, kept the defence under relentless pressure from the Honiton forwards.
Some good saves were made by the Okehampton goalkeeper and player of the match Daisy Morgan but the goals kept coming and Okehampton soon found themselves 5-0 down. However, they never gave up. There was some decisive, neat passing from Viv Weatherington to Alex Collins in the circle; she then slipped the ball to Rachel Adams. who was quick score. Okehampton had a much needed boost from their first goal. Honiton scored yet again giving 6-1 at half time.
The second half saw positive changes from a rearranged Okehampton defence allowing the midfield of Tilly Dixon, Holly Davidson and Zoe Curtis the ability to feed balls through to the Okehampton forwards. This lively tempo resulted in some good chances to score and Alex Collins gave Okehampton their second goal.
A third goal was scored by Rachel Adams from a short corner. By now the game had evened up and Okehampton had found their stride with Collins giving them a fourth goal.
It was a good come back considering such a shaky start.
