Ashmoor ladies’ seconds 2
Okehampton ladies’ seconds 0
LAURA Bazeley, Maddie Arden, Sarah Marvin and Emily Rowlands joined the team from the thirds, but their input was invaluable.
Maddie Arden’s fast pace up and down the right wing kept the opposition busy. She linked with Emma Wiseman who drove the ball into the opposition circle but just could not get the ball past Ashmoor’s agile goalie. Forwards Alex Collins and Emily Rolands produced some dainty passes to each other but were denied any clear strikes at goal by the Ash defence. The midfielders Viv Weatherington, Sarah Marvin and Debbie Pritchard worked relentlessly throughout the match supporting busy defenders and feeding the ball through to the forward line up. Debbie Pritchard covered the pitch well, intercepting any loose ball and dribbled it forward away from the Ashmoor attackers.
The Oke defenders were kept busy. Anna Luxton prevented Ashmoor getting into the circle with some of her best block tackles; Rachel Adams in right defence ensured that the opposition’s efforts to score were denied with skilful stick and ball manoeuvres and Sandy Douglas tried her utmost to clear the ball out of the circle. It was Laura Bazley in goal that denied Ashmoor a high winning score, consistently blocking every attacking ball.
Ashmoor won 2-0 but Oke left the pitch knowing that the winning score was kept in low figures thanks to their diligent efforts.
