ANOTHER busy week was had at Okehampton Golf Club who teed off on July 20 with the seniors’ three ball summer open.
The overall winners with 78 points were Rod Milsom-Smith, John Haley and Robin Webb (Okehampton); second overall were R Stevens, C Wayman and J Maynard (Fingle/Exeter) with 76pts. The best visitor prize was awarded to J Hocking, G Moore and J Smith (Torrington) with 75pts and the second visitor prize went to H Martin, P Ellicott and J Stevens (Royal North Devon) with 74pts.
Best combination prize was won by A Tilley, S Blackmuir and M Lewis (Okehampton/Ash-bury/Newport) with 74pts and sixth place went to C Yeo, D Keir and F Cooke (Okehampton) with 73pts.
On Saturday a large field entered into a men’s four ball better ball open; after the deluge of rain which fell the day before the sun shone on players to create superb playing conditions.
The overall winners were Steve and Graham Browne (Okehampton/Cred-iton) with 47pts after countback on the back nine from in second Kevin Cornwall and Alan Searle (Okehampton) while third overall were Alan Mann and Rob Camies (Okehampton) with 46pts. The best visitor prize was won by S Richards and D Shrimpton (Boringdon Park) with 42pts and the second visitor prize went to J Nickles and N Hobbs (Dawlish Warren).
Tbe best Okehmpton team prize was won by Sam Woollacott and Paul Rattenbury with 44pts.
