SHEBBEAR College's U14s' cricket team has batted away their opposition to win the Devon Schools Cricket Cup. The team played Exmouth Community College in the final of the competition on June 18 in Exmouth. Each side played 35 overs in blazing sunshine. Headteacher Simon Weale said: 'Our innings was dominated by the brilliant Shian Brathwaite who batted throughout to score 112 not out. He received excellent support from all the other batsmen who realised the most important thing was to bat for our full allocation of overs.' Shebbear made 185-6 and their bowlers Jabez Weale, Eloise Maxa, Maxwell Lewis and Carl Stanbury restricted Exmouth to 130-8, giving Shebbear victory by 55 runs. Shebbear U14s will now represent the county in next year's national under U15s championships.
