East Devon A 2

TAVISTOCK were looking for a strong performance to pull them back to the top of the league against East Devon A last Saturday.

Having beaten East Devon away earlier in the season and fielding a strong squad, Tavi were confident in the result but it was not to be.

In a game that was shifting from end to end, it was the visitors who played the more structured and composed game and Tavistock never really settled into their game.

Plenty of chances were had at either end and Tavistock probably had the greater opportunities. East Devon had a very strong keeper and with some fine saves managed to keep a clean sheet.

Tavistock went behind in the first half to a well struck short corner and finally lost the game to a late strike following an incisive move down the centre.

Tavistock’s strength is very much the structure and speed, but this was lacking in the performance. In their next match, away to table topping Teign, they will have to be much improved.

Tavistock first team host Wootton Bassett in the National HA Vase competition on February 7.

This is a great achievement in their attempt to get into the last eight in the country.
