OKEHAMPTON Smallbore Club held, over two weekends, the Open South West Short Range Championships 2013, for prone rifle shooters.

The event drew competitors from far afield and marked the 36th running at the club of this prestigious competition run by Bernard and Yvonne Rendle and was sponsored by many local companies.

Competitors shoot in one of four classes, with divisions for veterans and ladies in each; four rounds are shot – two at 25 yards and two at 25 metres, all indoors and in which OSC had representatives shooting in many classes.

OSC had good results, as in the top A class Paul Batten was third overall and tied second in the veterans' section.

Ivan Trickey in C class won the veterans and in D class Peter Patterson was third overall and also won the veterans.

Amanda Elliott won the ladies and South West ladies classes and was fourth overall.
