ECV Hornets 0
Okehampton A 2
HAVING already beaten the Hornets back in October confidence was high for an away victory.
The game was end to end action with both teams moving the ball quickly from back to front and creating chances. George Morgan in the Oke goal had a superb game keeping his first senior clean sheet while Jack Watson, who played so well in his debut last week, was rewarded with a place in the starting eleven.
The dead lock was broken on the half hour mark when Stuart Jarvis made a great run down the left wing; his pass found Luxton's stick who drove into the home side's D and a challenge from the Hornets' defender popped the ball back into the path of Jacob Lloyd, who cooly lifted the ball over the keeper to make it 0-1.
At half time the away side were confident that they could keep ahead in the game. The defensive unit looked so strong with Mark Bingham, Hayden Bond and Zac Middleton cutting out any threat. In the midfield Tim Morgan battled so hard and was supported well by man of the match Simon Bourne and Brett Lawson.
The second goal came from a majestic pass by Lloyd, who played the ball between the two Hornets defenders and found Luxton who drew the keeper before fired the ball into the back of the goal for 0-2. This goal saw Oke relax and they started to play the ball around well, with Lawson, Lloyd and Watson having chances to get a third.
Hornets pushed to try and get a goal back but great team defending kept a well deserved clean sheet for the visitors.
