THE search is on to find talented young people to represent Torridge in this year's Devon Games to Inspire in July.
During May, Torridge is holding trials in the following sports for youngsters in Years 5 to 11: cricket, netball, triathlon, high five netball, hockey, street sports, table tennis, tennis, volleyball.
All trials are free, sports kits are provided and the lucky ones who represent Torridge in Torbay at the event on July 14 will have free transport to and from the event on a team bus.
The event, which were held in Okehampton in 2012, is a grass roots celebration of sport and culture, where hundreds of young people from across the county compete in various sports. As well as competing for individual medals, all participants also earn points for their respective team, with a chance to win an overall team trophy at the end of the competition.
Torridge District Council's lead member for health and community safety, Councillor Andy Boyd, said: 'The DGTI is a great opportunity for young people to experience the buzz of competing in a major sporting event.
'Entry to the games is free and those competing will have a fantastic day playing the sport that they love. The atmosphere at previous events has been electric and representing the districts offers a fun and exciting chance to show off those sports skills. Budding young athletes should come along to the trials and have a go.'
