Play off — first round

North Tawton ladies 12

Cullompton ladies 0

WITH North Tawton ladies finishing top of the women's rugby South league and Cullompton finishing top of the North league this was always going to be a tight game in the first round of the play-off league.

North Tawton welcomed back Tara McGlade, who found herself playing number nine after only landing back yesterday from Afghanistan.

So it turned out with a goalless score at half-time, with both teams cancelling each other out.  On a sticky pitch this proved to be a game for the forwards and North Tawton's running backs were finding the muddy pitch difficult going.

North Tawton were boosted with the arrival of Clara Nielson from South West trials at half time and it was not long before a superb piece of back play from Hayley saw her cross the line in the corner for the first try.

This settled North Tawton's nerves and they found themselves going forward on a more regular basis allowing Lottie Trerise to run the length of the pitch to score underneath the posts; Neilson converted to make it 12-0.

With only 10 minutes remaining North Tawton defended well with the forwards continuing their excellent scrummaging and tackling to thwart Cullompton.
