Tavistock Ladies 5
TAVISTOCK ladies travelled to Bude for their final game of the season knowing a win should secure second place in the league for successive seasons.
The win moved the ladies three points clear of Marjon who played their final game on Tuesday night against EXE HC.
A comfortable goal difference made it practically impossible for them to be caught by Marjon.
With centre back Jenny Pollock unavailable, second team player of the season Nicky Wood once again stepped up to play in the Tavistock defence.
The goals were scored by Laura Armstrong with three, Erin Shillaw and captain Janice Scott.
The win caps a fantastic season in which the new look Tavistock team finished strongly following a less than convincing start. It took a few games for the team to gel but they soon played the consistent hockey to which the supporters have been accustomed to watching.
Next season will again be a challenge as the team will again take a new look with players moving away to university but also the return of some players who have missed this season due to injury and pregnancy as well as new players who have put pen to paper to sign for the club for the 2016/17 season.
