A NUMBER of members from Tavistock Swimming Club competed in a long course gala and gained individual times for a range of events for the very first time at the Plymouth Leander Level 3 Long Course Meet held at the Plymouth Life Centre.

In total, 17 members competed in 93 events over the three long days and achieved 71 personal best times and 67 top ten finishes, with 14 being top three medal winning positions.

Everyone did exceptionally well, with some swimmers gaining 61 top ten positions in all their events.

Nine-year-old Hannah Walker achieved three first places in the 50 metres, 200 metres and 400 metres freestyle while her twin sister Charlotte achieved first place in the 50 metres butterfly.

First places were achieved by Nathaniel Rookes in the 50 metres and 100 metres breaststroke, who also came third in the 50 metres and 100 metres backstroke. First place in the 200 metres backstroke was achieved by Daisy Morgan in the girls 14 years age group, who was also third in the 200 metres individual medley. Ryan Lillyman gained an excellent second place in the boys 13 years 1500 metres freestyle reducing his personal best time by almost 40 seconds. He was also third in the 400 metres freestyle.

Other top 3 finishes were recorded by Lucie Prior who got second in the 50 metres backstroke and Alfie Morgan was second in the 200 metres breaststroke and third in the 400 metres freestyle.

Also swimming in this gala were Ben and Jessica Bowles, Jessamy Clemens, Amber Francis, Thanae Garland-Tsirka, Robert Harvey, George Morgan, Elena Prior and Beth and Sam Turner.

The club said well done to all the swimmers who competed at this end of season event for the brilliant results with every swimmer gaining personal best times.
