OKEHAMPTON Otters and Tavistock Swimming Club recently hosted the Dartmoor Gala at Parklands Leisure Centre with clubs from around Devon and Cornwall invited. The event, which is in its third year, is proving to be very popular. 

The Otters had a team of 19 swimmers taking part and they performed brilliantly, competing in more than 70 events achieving more than 30 personal best times, with the Otters winning 19 medals.

Head coach David Dennis said this was a fantastic event organised and run by Okehampton Otters and Tavistock Swimming Club.

‘All the swimmers had a wonderful day and the Otters performed brilliantly showing a high standard of swimming throughout. I think the swimmers can be proud of what they have achieved in such a small space of time.

‘We just lack the numbers to compete with the bigger clubs. We are already looking forward to the Devon Sprints and Devon Developments.’
