Okehampton ladies' seconds 2

Ashmoor ladies 3

ON a beautiful sunny Saturday afternoon Okehampton ladies' second played one of their toughest games this season against the league leaders.

In the first half both teams displayed great skills with an equal share of ball possession and good defensive play.

The Okehampton's defence of captain Rochelle Hillier, Ailsa Gibb , Sandy Douglas , Debbie Pritchard , Charlotte Harper showed robust ball work and good footwork from goalkeeper Alice Wiseman kept all of the short corners awarded to Ashmoor well clear of the backboard.

Okehampton were unlucky not to score when Annabel Rademaker stepped up to the mark to take her first shot at a short corner only to be denied glory at the last moment by the Ashmoor defence.

Sophia Marshall led the way with brave attempts to get the ball for Oke into the D and the Ashmoor defending awarded Okehampton another short corner.

At the half time whistle it was 0-0 but soon from the restart it was 2-0 to Ashmoor.

However, Okehampton kept their heads with the midfield players bringing the play swiftly up the pitch as Emma Wiseman slid the ball past the Ashmoor keeper followed by Lottie Rademaker scoring a superb goal from a short corner.

The sporting game continued with the final score of 3-2 to Ashmoor after their attack surprised the Okehampton defence in the closing minutes of the game.

It was a well played game displaying some superb hockey skills from both ladies' teams.
