OKEHAMPTON Hockey Club U12 girls travelled to Plymouth on Sunday to play in the final round of the Devon league.

Against Ashmoor Oke defenders Abbie Luxton and Hannah Woodhams marked the Ashmoor attack tightly with captain Molly Cooper making several decisive tackles. Ashmoor team converted their pressure into a goal giving them a narrow victory. It was a much more even match against ISCA B with end to end hockey. Oke midfielders Annie Strawbridge and Emilia Bazeley pushed forward giving forwards Beth Luxton and Lucinda Aveyard the chance to attack but ISCA defended well. Oke were unlucky to concede a goal just before the final whistle.

The Okehampton girls attacked against Ivybridge with Rosie Higgs and Annie Strawbridge narrowly missing the goal. Emilia Bazeley dominated the midfield and her efforts were rewarded when she scored the winning goal.

Against ISCA A the Oke girls had saved their best hockey until the last. The whole team battled fiercely with Oke goalie Lucy Wiseman having an outstanding game which ended in a draw.

Okehampton Hockey boys' team also travelled to Plymouth to play their games. In wet conditions Okehampton broke the deadlock and then hung on to win the game 1-0.

Their next game was against Dart who proved a slightly stronger test. Although the Oke boys worked hard to equalise once Dart took the lead, they were unable to do so and so the final score ended at 0-1 to Dart.

As the weather deteriorated, their last opponents were Plymouth HC. In an end to end game the Oke boys gained the ascendancy, and scored the decisive goal to round off a successful tournament.
