Okehampton A 9

Taunton Vale D 0

WITH the summer sun shining over the town, Okehampton A hosted Taunton Vale in the last game of the season.

The home side started well and it was not long before Jake Lloyd found Stuart Jarvis unmarked at the back post to open the scoring. Not long after Jake Lloyd found Jarvis unmarked with a 30-yard pass the home team doubled their lead.

A mistake from the Taunton keeper allowed Toby Lloyd to sneak around the back and tap in the third. Jack Watson added a fourth before Jarvis set up Jake for his first and Oke's fifth before half time.

The away side upped their game after the break but any threat they had going forward was thwarted by Oke's defence of John Jarvis, Alex Osman, Tim Morgan and Tom Hutchins. Good pressing from wingbacks Johannis Clifford-Flower and Mark Bingham won the home side a short corner — converted by captain Brett Lawson — before Jake Lloyd beat three defenders to get his second. A save from Oke keeper Hayden Bond found Jarvis on the wing who ran the length of the pitch before finding Jack Watson who laid the ball off to Jake Lloyd for him to complete his hat-trick.

Good work from substitute George Morgan unselfishly slotted the ball for man of the match Jarvis to complete his hat-trick and secure a 9-0 win for the home team, who finished the season fifth in South East 2 — their highest ever finish.
