OKEHAMPTON Otters Swimming and Lifesaving Club took four swimmers out of the county for the first time.

They went to meets in Penzance and Bodmin in Cornwall to swim competititively against other clubs.

The Otters who took part in the club’s first level 2 meet, went for experience and personal bests times, knowing that they were only one step away from the hardest meets possible, a level 1.

Head coach David Dennis set the Otters the challenge of one medal between them and they showed their skills by coming away with not one but 11 medals – seven golds, one silver and three bronze.

David said: ‘I’m so proud of what they have achieved. This is a small group of competitive swimmers but they are really putting the club on the map and doing so with a smile.’
