A DRINK driver, shoplifters and the theft of documentation and pictures of children feature in this week’s #newsfromtheblues police page.

• THIEVES left Waitrose, Okehampton, with joints of meat which were concealed within a bag, on July 14 at 12.53pm. One man was challenged by a member of staff, he tried to push past but was grabbed by Waitrose staff. The thief threw the bag to another male and they made off behind Lidl. CR/057780/17.

• A MAN was arrested and taken into custody for drink driving on July 11 in Okehampton after he hit two parked cars when leaving work and then seen hitting another car in a separate incident. He was found by police parked at the side of the road. When he was asked to use the breathalyser the test came back 65, which is almost double the legal limit. CR/057012/17.

• A NUMBER of power tools were stolen from a vehicle on Leaholes Avenue, Okehampton, on July 9 between 9.50pm and 10pm. Entry was gained by smashing the rear door lock. CR/056180/17.

• A MAN left McColls in Okehampton without payment on July 11 between 4.53pm and 4.55pm. The man left the shop on a bicycle. CR/056982/17.

• POLICE are appealing for anyone with information to come forward after a theft from a property in the Spreyton area, which took place between June 1 and June 25.

Various items were taken from a filing cabinet in a room in the property including around 500 euros. In addition, various documents and paperwork were taken including passports and driving licences.

Amongst the paperwork were some original baby scan pictures of the victim’s twin children.

A police spokesperson said: ‘These pictures obviously have no monetary value and the victim would like these back. We are appealing for the pictures to be returned.’

The spokesperson said that the victims were extremely upset by the loss of these personal belongings and requested that these items were returned anonymously to Okehampton Police Station.
