A POLICE campaign has begun in the West Devon area to try to build on ‘community intelligence’.

The operation in Tavistock and Okehampton has been labelled ‘Oak Dragon’ and has been formed in order for people to provide any information on their local area, including any intelligence on the supplying of drugs.

The campaign also allows people to give any information anonymously.

Detective Sgt Bev Havis said: ‘We have noticed that we are not getting as much community intelligence as we would like and we want to let people know that they can come forward with any information relating to any intelligence in their area. We are looking at drugs, especially with young people and the effect it is having on the young community.

‘People have been saying to the police about the increase of drugs to the area but we need details of any kind to help us with the investigation — we can’t prevent it unless we know what is happening.’
