IF there’s something strange in your neighbourhood, then you call the Ghostbusters.

But with Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Bill Murray as the eccentric parapsychologists having not expanded their ghost-catching business from New York City to Devon and Cornwall, residents who see strange things instead tend to call the police.

A freedom of information request to Devon and Cornwall Police asked the force to provide information on incidents over the past two years where the words ‘ghost’ was logged.

In total, 39 incidents where the caller was reporting supernatural or paranormal activity were logged and included.

However, the information provided said that unlike the Ghostbusters, the police would not attend an incident for the report of paranormal activity.

An officer will attend though if there is concern for welfare for either the caller or another individual or where there is reason to believe an offence may have occurred, the information stated.

In total 22 incidents in 2017 were recorded with a further 17 in 2018.
