CHILDREN and staff from Okehampton Primary School enjoyed an unusual way of celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight this week.
Two teams took part in a six-minute Fairtrade trolley dash around Waitrose, when they had to race as quickly as possible around the shop collecting as many different Fairtrade products as possible.
The school expressed thanks to Waitrose who provided balloons and Fairtrade chocolate for the audience.
Waitrose have continued to support Fairtrade Fortnight by generously donating all of the produce collected to Okehampton Primary School, to enable them to use it as raffle prizes.
The variety of Fairtrade produce collected included pineapples, bananas, chocolate, coffee, tea, sugar, drinking chocolate, spices, fruit juice, biscuits, nuts, honey, cotton cloths and Easter eggs.
