WEST Devon composer Andrew Wilson (pictured left) this week said he was delighted to learn that he has been made an Honorary Fellow of the National College of Music London.

This is the college’s highest award and he joins the ranks of other honorary fellows such as the broadcaster Huw Edwards.

Andrew has lived in Tavistock for more than twenty years, and was formerly director of music at Kelly College; he is also the organist and choirmaster of Okehampton Parish Church.

Recent successes have included performances of his music at the Royal Albert Hall and Exeter Cathedral and he was the first prize winner in the International Small Choirs Composing Competition 2015.

Exciting future plans include a premiere in the USA and a children’s opera for the Woolpit Festival in Suffolk .

Nearer to home, a new piece for the Tavistock Festival , ‘A Tavy Dance Suite’ will be played by the Chamber Ensemble of London at next year’s Tavistock Music and Arts Festival.
