A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital last week after a serious collision near Winkleigh.

The collision, just after 9.30am on Wednesday April 27, involved just one car on the A3124 at Caddington Cross.

The woman driver was trapped inside the blue Skoda Fabia and had to be released by fire crews, using hydraulic cutting equipment. She was transported by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital.

The road was closed for six and a half hours while fire crews made the vehicle and road safe.
