FIVE hundred yellow ducks will be streaming down the River Ockment in Simmons Park this bank holiday.

The duck race, on Sunday May 2, is part of the May Fair, which is organised annually by Okehampton Rotary Club.

The traditional fair will have stalls and attractions to appeal to all the family.

Adventure Okehampton will have a climbing wall and archery, OCRA will be running a sports day and there will be a dog show.

The Wren Trust will be performing and Okehampton Silver Band will play during the afternoon.

Visitors can hunt for a bargain at the car boot sale, which will also be taking place in the park, where they can bring sale items.

There will be many more stalls, including burgers, tea tents, ice creams and a bakery.

Okehampton Rotary Club president Mike Macklin,said: 'This is one of the most popular days in the local calendar.

'We hope the weather will be kind to us as it has been recently, and look forward to seeing everyone enjoying themselves and helping local groups and charities at the same time.'

The event will be opened by Okehampton town mayor Cllr David Weekes.

The car boot sale will run from 11am until 5pm and the first duck race will begin at 2pm.
