YOUNG music lovers are in for a treat this summer as Wren Music presents its Summer Music Club from Monday August 13 to Friday August 17.
The fun-filled five days of music and song have been specially designed to appeal to youngsters from 8 to 18 years old.
The morning and afternoon sessions will cater for all levels of ability and all instruments are welcome. There are no auditions and no sight-reading of music.
For those who do not have their own instruments, Wren Music will have its extensive stock of instruments and percussion on hand.
The wide choice ranges from electric and acoustic guitars through to traditional instruments like fiddles, melodeons, accordians and mandolins.
Those looking to play something more unusual can try out lesser-known instruments like the autoharp, dulcimer and bodhran.
Alongside learning new music and writing songs, the sessions will provide an opportunity to work creatively with others and make new friends.
The club will be rounded off with an informal performance for parents and friends on the Friday afternoon, where all participants will be encouraged to join in.
The club is led by Wren Music's team of professional musicians, singers, songwriters and music educators, all of whom have many years of experience both performing and leading workshops.
This year the club has been accredited as a learning destination of the Children's University, enabling youngsters to work toward their graduation targets, taking part in quality out-of-school learning activities.
The sessions will be held in Fairplace Church Hall from 10am to 3.30pm each day. Packed lunches should be brought along, soft drinks will be provided.
Thanks to support from Devon County Council, the fee for the whole week is £100, with a concessionary rate of £30 for children whose parents are full-time students or receiving income-related benefits. All-week fees for further children from the same family are only £175, or £15 concessions.
Attendance all week is preferred but daily attendance from Monday to Thursday is also possible. Day fees are £25 each with a concession of £10.
Places are limited so booking in advance is highly recommended. For more information contact Wren Music via e-mail on [email protected]">[email protected] or call 01837 53754.
