THE new season of youth theatre at the Plough Arts Centre in Great Torrington is beginning with auditions for 'Oklahoma' this weekend.
Young people aged between 13 and 18 years of age, who enjoy singing, dancing and acting can be part of the senior youth theatre's next production.
Following hot on the heels of their sell out performances of 'Oh What a Lovely War' in November, workshop style auditions for 'Oklahoma!' start at The Plough this Saturday, from 1.30pm until 4.30pm.
The classic musical by Rodgers and Hammerstein tells the story of cowboy Curly and his romance with farm girl Laurey. More romance blossoms with flirtatious Ado Annie and her long-suffering fiancé Will Parker but nothing is ever straight forward!
Packed with well known musical numbers, a cast of colourful characters and some large scale ensemble choreography, there promises to be something for the whole company to get their teeth into.
The production will take from 15th – 18th July 2009 and two terms commitment for the rehearsal period is required.
New members are always welcome.
Junior members of the Youth Theatre are about to embark on the final weeks of rehearsals for their next production, a brand new musical adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's popular novel 'The Wind in the Willows'.
The premier performances by the cast of 55 eight to12 year olds will take place from February 10 to 12 2009 at 7pm each evening. Tickets are selling fast so book now to avoid disappointment. Box office: 01805 624624.
