THE Bishop of Plymouth Nick McKinnel was the guest of honour at this year’s classic car and motorcycle show in South Zeal.

A cracking collection of classic cars and motorcycles filled the car parks of both the Oxenham Arms and South Tawton Primary School for the event. The Rt Rev’d Nick McKinnel attended to present class prizes.

In the classic car class, the winner was a 1968 Jaguar MK II, owned by Ross Wood of Exeter. In second place was South Zeal resident Ian O’Neill’s 1965 Mini Moke.

Chinese auto manufacturer Chery Motor plans to produce a Classic Moke, with updated mechanics and safety provisions. Judges awarded third place to a 1968 red MG CGT owned by villager David Seddon.

In the classic motorcycle class, judges awarded first prize to a 1976 green Triumph Thunderbird Bonneville owned by Paul Bridgeford from South Zeal. In second was a 1961 silver Triumph T100SS, the prized possession of Graham Loram from Chagford.

The event was organised by Lyn and Simon Powell of the Oxenham Arms to raise money for St Mary’s Church in South Zeal and St Andrew’s church in South Tawton.

The couple expressed their thanks to all who entered vehicles and made the trip to take part and make the show a success.
