THE fire service were called to a chimney fire in Petrockstowe early on Monday morning.

A crew from Hatherleigh attended the incident just before 7am, where they found a chimney fire involving a wood burning stove. The fire was extinguished using ladders for access and one hose reel jet.

The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
