The team at North Tawton Dental Practice are currently undergoing an exciting change, as previous principal dentist Dr Renata Kaczorowska is transitioning into semi-retirement and Dr Alexander Legge has the pleasure of taking up ownership of the practice.

Dr Renata will continue to see and look after patients as an associate dentist at the practice. She and Alex look to make the transition of ownership seamless for our patients.

The practice was originally set up by Dr Mike Thwaites in 1989 to serve the community and surrounding area. Alex is committed to maintaining the family-centred ethos, which was fundamental to both Mike and Renata’s practice, through the provision of comprehensive, high quality general dental care in a friendly and relaxed environment.

Alex qualified from the University of Plymouth with BDS (Hons) in 2018. Having completed his vocational training in Exeter, Alex was able to secure a position as an Academic Clinical Fellow, based within the Plymouth Community Dental Services. There he completed enhanced training in oral surgery and special care dentistry — including the management of anxious and more medically complex patients.

Alex sat his exams to become a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, Royal College of Surgeons and has recently completed a master’s degree in clinical research, underlining his commitment to continuing dental education and keeping abreast of the changes in modern dentistry.

As a result of these changes at the practice, Alex, Renata and the rest of the team are excited to be able to extend the number of days that the surgery is open.

We therefore have an increased capacity, and would be delighted to welcome new private patients, with both routine and urgent dental needs. The team is able to provide comprehensive general dentistry as well as implant dentistry and oral surgery.

The whole practice team look forward to welcoming patients, both existing and new.
