VOLUNTEERS are needed to help run two events supporting older people in Okehampton.
Time for Life, a community mentoring service for the over 50s in Devon, is looking for volunteers to help with their Oke-Dokey group at Castle Ham Lodge, and their Moor Memories session in Okehampton Library.
The Oke-Dokey social group meet on Thursday mornings between 10.30am and noon for a cup of coffee and chat with like-minded people.
The sessions offer a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for friends to meet up, and also encourages residents of Castle Ham Lodge to integrate with people from the wider community.
The Moor Memories group invites people to listen to memories from the Dartmoor National Park oral history project that recorded stories of everyday life on the moor during the 20th century.
The group started in June, and the Dartmoor National Park handed over copies of recordings to the library for use in the sessions in August.
The group meets on the first Thursday of every month for two hours from 2pm.
Each group needs a new volunteer to help the smooth running of each group.
If you think you can spare two hours once a week or once a month, please call Jenny Beavon on 01822 810564.
