Can anyone offer help to the local Carnival Committee?
We are aware that the shed we have used for many years to both store the royalty floats and as somewhere for the decoration to take place prior to the carnival, is earmarked for demolition in the near future so the committee are desperately looking for another secure premises where they could both keep and decorate the floats.
The farmer has been very kind over the years and has let us use the shed free of charge as his way of supporting the carnival.
The two floats are of a caravan chassis and light to move, but ideally storage should be fairly close to the town so that nearing the carnival itself, the families involved in decorating can get to them easily if they have an hour to spare.
The committee are hopeful that a supporter of Okehampton Carnival will hear our plea and perhaps be able to offer a glimmer of hope. Without a shed for storage and somewhere to construct the floats each year the carnival may end up without royalty.
