A VINTAGE car enthusiast added to his collection when he bought a classic motorcycle last month.

Colin Fry from Throwleigh, who has been showing vintage cars for the last 15 years, hopes to show his LE Velocette motorcycle once it has been through its MOT next year.

The 77-year-old has wowed judges year after year with his collection of cars, including first prize for his 1934 Standard 10 saloon, which also featured as the vet's car in the classic television series All Creatures Great and Small and as the detective's car in Miss Marple.

Mr Fry said it had always been his ambition to own a classic motorcycle.

'It's the first bike I have owned and I am very happy with it.

'I got it from Plymouth and I am looking forward to taking it to the shows next year, but it will have to go in the motorbike section.'

Mr Fry said he works as a team with his son, who helps him do up the cars: 'My son is now building me a trailer so that I can take the bike alongside my cars.

'It's great that he is helping me and I can't wait to get it out and about.'

Mr Fry's collection of vintage cars ranges from a 1936 Singer Bantam, one of only nine left in the country, a 1954 Standard 8, a 1955 Standard Super 8 and a 1934 Standard 10.
