SOUTH Molton Recycle (SMR) is extending its trial of a new method of cardboard collection from local households in Torridge until September 7.

On selected routes until then, two SMR trucks will collect dry recycling. One will pick up the green box of tins, bottles and newspapers as normal, but a second will gather up cardboard left out on the kerbside for recycling.

Halwill Junction, Shebbear and Black Torrington will see the trial take place on Mondays.

Some residents may assume that, as the first SMR truck drives off leaving their cardboard behind, their brown bag has been forgotten, but a second truck will be on its way.

All recycling collections will be one day late due to the August Bank Holiday Monday.
