THE artistic skill of a pupil from South Tawton Primary School has won a prize in a Devonwide cartoon competition.

Lewis Johns, aged 8, was one of 900 pupils from 42 Devon schools who took part in the 'Buses are cool' cartoon competition launched in September to support Devon Car Free Day.

Devon County Council's Travelwise campaign organised the competition, which featured the Hare and Tortoise cartoon, depicting a happy tortoise standing at a bus stop while the hare fumes in a traffic jam.

Lewis was runner up in the age 8 to 11 category and received a £10 book voucher for his efforts.
